Abstract
This research tries to know and describe: 1) Principal Innovations in Developing Favorite School in SMP Muhammadiyah 8 Surakarta Academic Year 2017/2018. 2) Implementation of Principal Innovation in Developing Favorite School in SMP Muhammadiyah 8 Surakarta Academic Year 2017/2018. This research is a qualitative research, taking place at SMP Muhammadiyah 8 Surakarta. In data collection, the authors conducted field studies with data collection methods in the form of interviews, observation and documentation. Data analysis is done by deductive method that is depart from the theoretical base then adjusted with the data in the field. Based on the result of the research, the writer can draw the conclusion that the headmaster of SMP Muhammadiyah 8 Surakarta make innovation in 6 fields, curriculum, infrastructure and student affairs, teachers, environment and school culture and public relations. The sixth innovation of the field is then realized in the form of programs or activities that exist in the school. First, Innovation in the field of curriculum in the form of additional lessons, breakfast, morning Islamic morning, activities Friday morning, praying in congregation, activities keputrian, PPA, tahsid tahfidz. Second, the field of facilities and infrastructure in the form of improvement of class facilities. Thirdly, the field of student affairs in the form of superior classes (classroom Boarding School 10 juz, IT class, men's class, women's class and regular integrated classes), home stay, try out UASBN SD, entrance fee, school scholarship and one hour registration system service. Fourth, the field of teachers in the form of managing teachers through social media or whatsapp, second Friday activities in the form of recitation, regular teacher training once a week, reward and punishment system, finger spot, and workshop. Fifth, the field of school environment and culture between students and credit point system. Sixth, the field of public relations in the form of teacher salary deductions for social funds and activities Qurban.
