Abstract

AS A LEARNING RESOURCE IN MIM GONILAN KARTASURA. Essay. Teacher Education Elementary School, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. July, 2018. This study aims to describe: 1. Utilization of school library as a source of learning, 2. Factors that affect the use of school libraries as a source of learning, 3.Efforts made school in the use of school libraries as a source of learning in MIM Gonilan Kartasura. This research is a qualitative research with phenomenology design. Data collection techniques consist of interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis techniques using interactive analysis. The validity of data using source triangulation and technique. The results showed: 1. Utilization of the library as a source of learning through: a.Collection of library materials. 1) Number of more than 1000 books has not motivated students to increase reading interest, 2) Students are more interested in story books, 3) Library utilization depends on teacher creativity; b.Services. 1) Reference service in the form of dictionary and EYD, 2) Services conducted by students, 3) No borrowing service, 4) Library open breaks. 2. Factors that affect: a.Room. 1) Has area 8x9m square, 2) Student reading while lying down, 3) Room less lighting; b.Equipment and supplies. 1) There is no allocation of funds, 2) Equipment and supplies is not adequate, 3) There are seals and stationery officers, 4) Equipment in the form of tables, chairs, carpets, and bookshelves. Efforts made schools are: a.Organize library space. 1) Place officer located in the front corner, 2) Arrangement of activity adjusted, 3) Book arrangement not yet running; b. Library worker. 1) There is a book alms program, 2) Officer has double job as officer as well as teacher; Orderly order. 1) Order not yet displayed, 2) There is no firm sanction for violators.
