Abstract

The Ngrombo 3 elementary school is in Tangen subdistrict. Learning activities that conducted in elementary school are still contemporary. Learning is still used speech method. The media of learning that provided by the school was limited. A lack of the learning innovation and the creativity from the teacher make the students have a low learning interest. The need for action is aimed to improve the students’ interest in learning. The action that the researcher has taken is to innovate toward the media and learning method that used. The media of learning that the researcher used is Pop-up Book media and Contextual Teaching Learning (CTL) method. The aim of this research is (1) to describe the use of learning media Pop-up Book as the efforts of increasing student learning interest. (2) To describe the use of Contextual Teaching Learning (CTL) learning method to improve student learning interest. (3) To describe the obstacles and the solution in the application of the learning media Pop-up Book and the learning method Contextual Teaching Learning (CTL). The type of this research belongs to Qualitative research with Classroom Action Research design (PTK). The data collection techniques that used in this research are in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The source of this research is the teachers and the students. The data that gained is qualitative data which contain the information about student’s IPS learning interest. The data analysis techniques are using qualitative data analysis techniques with the data reduction, the data presentation and draw a conclusion. The data validity that used is the source triangulation and technique triangulation. Based on the research that has been done, it can be concluded that (1) the use of learning media Pop-up Book can increase the students’ learning interest, (2) The use of learning method Contextual Teaching Learning (CTL) can increase the students’ learning interest, (3) The solution from the obstacles is the teacher should be more creative in managing the learning using the learning media Pop-up Book and the learning method Contextual Teaching Learning (CTL)
