Abstract
Based on observations conducted by researchers of the children in group B that the reading skills of children vary. There are children who have not been able to distinguish the sounds or letters that have similar shape. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect media flashcard on the ability to read beginning of children in group B TK Pertiwi 01 Girilayu Matesih Karanganyar 2017/2018 Academic Year. This study used Pre Experimental Design (Pre-Experimental Design)that was by one-Posttes Pretes group (one group pretest-Posstest Design) as the study design. Techniques of collecting data from this study were observation, interview, and documentation. This research subject was child group B TK Pertiwi 01 Girilayu Matesih totaling 20 children. The results of the initial observation scores before the experiment amounted to 205 with an average of 10.25. The highest score was 14, the lowest value 7, and standard deviation = 12.12. The results of the experiment after the final observations was 458, with an average of 22.9. The highest score was 28 and the lowest value was 14 and standard deviation = 4.17. Based on the analysis of data obtainedt was -23.453, becauset -23.453≤ ttable -2.093 then H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted. It can be concluded that the media flashcard influenced on children's ability to read the beginning of the group B TK Pertiwi 01 Girilayu Matesih Karanganyar of the Academic Year of 2017/2018.
