Abstract

The purpose of these study was to describe the type of students’ error in solving of the linear program problem which was seen the learning styles and what factor of the cause in the error of students in solving linear program. The research used descriptive qualitative. The subjects of these research are the students of XI Grade Social Program (IPS) 1 SMA N 2 Karanganyar 2017/2018. The techniques of data collection used questionnaires, documentation and interviews. The validity of data was done by triangulation technique. The techniques of data analysis used reduction, presentation and conclusion. The results of research indicated the students who have visual learning styles make errors in the transformation step, process skills and answer writing, students who have an auditorial learning style make errors in the process skill steps and answer writing, and students who have kinesthetic learning style make mistakes in the step transformation, process skills and answer writing. The transformation error is caused by the lack of mastering the prerequisite material linear inequality and the students are less precise in making the mathematical model, the process skill mistake is caused by the students are less careful in doing algebraic operations and less mastering the material, the error of writing answers caused because the students did not check back the written answer and students want to shorten the processing time.
