Abstract
Employee engagement has an important role to improve performance of employees in this case government employees (PNS) in order that they serves the community more optimally. The purpose of this research is to examine the effectiveness of the training of meaningfulness to improve employee engagement on government employees of Surakarta. The population of this research is government employees staff in the scope of sub-district and urban village of Surakarta, with the sample size 44 people. The technique used is random sampling, that the researcher divides the subjects randomly into 2 groups, the experimental group and the control group. Data collection tool used employee engagement scale, observation, and interview. Hypothesis were analyzed using the T-Test. The first t-test between the post test of experimental group and control group was obtained a value of t of 30,987 with p = 0,000 (p> 0.05). Next, the follow up scores of both groups, obtained a value of t 6,212 with p = 0,000 (p> 0.05). These results indicate that there is a significant difference between the post test and the follow up of the two groups. The t test using Paired Samples Test for pre-test and post-test of the experimental group obtained a value of t -8.736 with p = 0,000 (p <0.01). This means that there is a significant difference between pre-test and post-test experimental group. While the minor hypothesis test used friedman test, shows a chie square value of 30,273 with asymp sig. 0,000 (p<0,05) which means that there was significant influence between training of meaningfulness on employee engagement of government employees. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that there is significant influence between Training meaningfulness on employee engagement in the government employees staff.
