Abstract

The purposes of this research are : 1) to understand the relation between social support and Self-Confidance pencak silat athlete of central of java, 2).to know the influence of social support with the athlete’s confidance,3) to recognize of social support pencak silat athlete of central of java,4) to conprehand of self-confidance pencak silat athlete of central of java. The hypothesis of this research shows that there is a positive relation between social support and Self-confidance. Based of criteria a number of subjects of this research is 30(thirty)profesional pencak silat athlete of central of java. Instrument used scale of social support and self confidence. The technique for analysis of this research is Product Moment. In conclusion there is positive relation between social support and self confidence pencak silat athlete of central of java. The higher the social support the higher the Self confidance, and The lower the social support, lower the self confidance. The results of data analysis shows that the correlation coefisien is (r) =0,333 with sig 0,036(p<0,05). The level of social support of the subject is hight. This is shown by the empirical rate of 113,67 while the hypothetical average is 87,5 Self-confidancein the subject is hight. This is shown by the empirical rate of 72,70 while the hypothetical average is 55. Effective contribution (SE) social support is 11,1%. This shows there are still 88.9% other variables that may affect confidence beyond the social support variable.
