Abstract

This study aims to describe students' difficulties in solving the story problem of two-linear equation system. This type of research is qualitative. The subjects consisted of 10 students. Data collection techniques using test methods and interviews. The validity of this data using method triangulation. Data analysis techniques are done by reducing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that: (1) 0% of students experience errors in understanding the problem, because students do not write information about the answer sheet. From the interview result, the factors that influence the difficulty are sourced from the students who are not careful and the teachers who do not teach to write the information about the problem, (2) 43.6% of students experience mistake in making matematka sentence. The difficulty in this aspect is the inability to explain the mathematical model. Factors affecting difficulties arise from problems with varying degrees of difficulty, students who are less conscientious, and do not understand concepts, (3) As many as 54.3% of students indicate an error in determining the strategy of completion. The difficulty in this aspect is the inability to explain the problem-solving strategy. Factors affecting the difficulties come from students who do not understand the concept, (4) As many as 70.2% of students indicated an error in performing mathematical procedures. The difficulty in this aspect is the inability to explain the exact calculation process. Factors that affect difficulty come from students who are less thorough and less practice.
