Abstract

This research aims to knowing enhancement liveliness of student learning with application of learning model Problem Based Learning (PBL) in class XI Mechanical Engineering at SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta. Teachers convey the purpose of learning, provide practice questions and provide motivation to learn to students. This research is a Classroom Action Research that do researchers in 2 cycles, which consists of four activities. With has did teacher's first cycle determine design for the second cycle so that liveliness student learning can increase in the second cycle activity not far different with the first cycle which aims to ensure and convincing that the method is successful. Then the next cycle do to fulfill target and success to be achieved. Research result show that liveliness learn students on subjects insurance and entrepreneurship class XI in SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta increased this is indicated from (1) Based on observation liveliness learning students obtained information existence enhancement which is quite significant. Results obtained from pre-cycle results conducted by researchers from the table above visible that there are 12 students (36,36%) which is said to be active, while 19 students (57,57%) with less active category and the remaining 2 students (5,88%) including into the passive category. In cycle I that there is increasing student activity of 20 students (60,60%) active, students with less active activity of 13 students (39.39%) and there are no more passive students during the learning process and in the second cycle that the number of students who have scores of more than 80 or classified active number of 28 students or 84.84% then for students who are less active there are only 5 students or in other words to 5 students, Increase of mean value also happened from cycle I to cycle II which increased significantly by 84.84%.
