Abstract
This has four objectives. (1) Describing the sosiohistorical background of the authors, Leila S Chudori and Tere Liye. (2) Describing the structure that builds the novel Pulang by Leila S Chudori and Pulang novel by Tere Liye. (3) Describing the intertext form of inner conflicts of the main character in the novel Pulang by Leila S Chudori and Pulang novel by Tere Liye. (4) Describing the 2 implementation of novel Pulang by Leila S Chudori and novel Pulang by Tere Liye in literary learning. This study uses qualitative descriptive research method. The data in this study are sentences and quotes in the novel Pulang by Leila S Chudori and the novel Pulang by Tere Liye. The data source in this research is divided into two, namely primary data source and secondary data source. The primary data source in this research is the novel Pulang by Leila S Chudori and the novel Pulang by Tere Liye and the secondary data source is the biography of the authors of the novel Pulang. These data are validated by the theory triangulation technique. Data analysis technique using semiotic reading model, consists of heuristic reading and hermeneutic reading. This research has four results. (1) The socio-historical background of Leila S Chudori and Tere Liye. (2) The structure are studied in this research consists of theme and facts of the story, the theme of the both of the novels about the struggle for life. The characters in the both of the novels consist of the main character and additional characters, also round character and flat character. To show the characterizations in these novels is using analysis through; physiological, psychological and sociological dimensions. The plot are used in both of the novels are mixed plot (alur campuran). The setting in those novels is divided into; the setting of the place, the time setting, and the social setting. (3) The intertextuality of the inner conflict of these two novels are; guilt, self-punishment, sadness, hatred and love; (4) The results of this research can be implemented in the study of literature in Senior High School grade XI, Semester I with SK 7 and KD 7.2 based on curriculum KTSP. Both of the novels are suitable for use in Senior High School students, because they suitable with the criteria of teaching materials that include; language aspects, psychological aspects, and aspects of cultural background.
