Abstract

Background : Stroke is a neurologic manifestation that is easily recognized and common from other neurologic diseases because it emerges suddenly in a short span of time. Stroke patients experience physical changes as well as their psychological. Their psychological changes caused by mood abnormality, sadness, depression, and self-blame. The tendency of stroke patients experience depression is very high, the role of family is very necessary in assisting patient care process so that patient can do activity as well as before. Objective : To determine the relationship between family support with depression level in post-stroke patients at Dr. Moewardi Surakarta. Research Method : The design of this research used analytic observational research with cross sectional approach. This research was conducted in October 2017 at Dr. Moewardi Surakarta. There were 34 respondents selected based on Purposive sampling technique. Hypothesis test used is Chi-square test. Result : Based on data analysis, p = 0.006 for family support with depression level in post stroke patient, where p<0.05. Conclusion : There is a relationship between family support with depression level in post-stroke patients.
