Abstract
Thesis is a form of scientific papers in the structure of the curriculum of undergraduate education programs that describe the special efforts of the application of integrated science that has been obtained in accordance with a specialization. But in reality not all students are able to complete the thesis on time. Final students have different problems to move on to their final project. In terms of social support, these students of course need support, at least the attention of others so that they are motivated to be able to complete their thesis. Students need support, especially support from their family to be motivated in completing thesis. The purpose of this study is to understand social support in motivating the students who are completing the thesis in the Psychology Study Program Faculty of Psychology Muhammadiyah University of Surakart. The method used in this research is qualitative research method with descriptive narrative strategy. Data collection method used in this research is open questionnaire and semi structured interview given to 4 psychology students who are, have or will do thesis, 4 informants consisted of 3 male informants and 1 female informant who are in the process of preparing thesis, has just been going to prepare a thesis or who have compiled thesis in the long term. The results showed that family social support can motivate students to immediately complete the thesis. The informants who get social support from their family, feel sorry for the parents who have bothered to finance their lectures so that the informants are increasingly motivated to immediately complete the thesis.
