Abstract
In order to meet the needs of concrete bag in accordance with the customer, Tiara collection need developing bag. Womens sling bag type was choosen as product concept. Product development method that used in this research was Value Engineering (VE). In using this method, it takes an initial design, as a reference for the product to improve. His method consists of five general phases, there are informations phase, creative phase, analysis phase, development phase, and presentation phase. Womens sling bag product development focused on price, function, quality, comfortable, colour, and feature. Based on the result of analysis and calculation by using the study of VE, the result is comparative between the first condition and suggestion condition. Because there is an addition of design function of bag. It can be obtained three design alternatives. The result of the study mentions that the alternatif II is ranked first while initial design is ranked four. • Initial design, function = 8,5721; value = 0,000322 • Alternative II, function = 48,0952; value = 0,000683 From the results of the calculation, it is found that the improvement of the new design product increase 53% compared to the old ones.
