Abstract

The background of this problem is the learning that often occurs in the classroom is still dominated by the teacher, so that lessons learned in the class less effective, the achievement of the effectiveness of learning required appropriate learning strategies according to the condition of learners. The purpose of this study is to know the strategy number head together can be used to achieve the goal on the material form the face of the earth in Indonesia, and know the strategy number head together more effective than conventional methods. This research method used experimental design by doing Pre test - Post test. There are two classes: experimental class using strategy number head together and control class using conventional method. The population in this study were all students of class VII SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Gatak. The results showed an increase in the average value of experimental class knowledge and skills compared to the control class. The average pre test grade of the original experiment 42 increased by 70 on the value of post test with the increase reaches 28 and the lowest score 50 and the average skill value 3.63, while the control class average pre test value 43 increased to 60 with the increase was only 17 and the lowest score was 7, and the skill average score was 3.16. The conclusion of this study is the purpose of learning on material form mukabumi in Indonesia can be achieved and strategy number head together more effective than the conventional method.
