Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder disease caused by the pancreas does not produce enough insulin or the body can not use effectively produced insulin. Diabetes Mellitus disease is a complex disease and requires long-term treatment hence knowledge is needed to prevent the occurrence of complications. Good knowledge can increase the active role to participate in the management and control of Diabetes Mellitus. Treatment compliance is required to achieve stable blood sugar levels. The purpose of this study to determine the relationship of knowledge level to adherence in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus patients in RSUD. Sukoharjo. The method used correlation analytic research with cross sectional approach. The sample in this research is all patient of Diabetes Mellitus Type 2 that fulfill the inclusion criteria at RSUD Sukoharjo which amounted to 72 respondents. The technique of sampling by consecutive sampling. Statistical analysis used Spearman Rho with trust value α = 0,05 with a measuring instrument which is used questionnaire DKQ-24 and MMS-6. Based on the results of this study, it is known that the correlation value between the level of knowledge on compliance is p-value 0.000. P value smaller than 0.05 and Spearman's Rho correlation value of 0, 715 so it can be concluded that there is a relationship between the level of knowledge on adherence in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus patients in RSUD. Sukoharjo.
