Abstract
This research has three purposes to describe, : (1) the structure that builds novel of Anak-Anak Merapi by Bambang Joko Susilo, (2) the social aspect contained in the novel Anak-Anak Merapi by Bambang Joko Susilo (3) the implementation of the research novel of Anak-Anak Merapi by Bambang Joko Susilo as literature learning materials in SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Kartasura. The method that is used in this research is qualitative description. The data of research is paragraphs from Anak- Anak Merapi by Bambang Joko Susilo. The primary data is of Anak-Anak Merapi by Bambang Joko Susilo and the secondary data is from relevance article same with object this research. The technique of gathering information in this research uses the scrutinizes and writing techinques and interview. The validity of the data in this research uses triangulation. Data analysis technque uses the dialectic method. There are three results of this research. (1) The structure that builds novel Anak- Anak Merapi that consist of themes is The life of the people around Mount Merapi. The characters are Mr.Widodo, Yudhsitira, Bimo, Juno, Mr Widodo wife, Rukmi, Mbah Karso and Gimok. The plotting story is in front. Setting of place is Yogjakarta in Umbulharjo village when 2010. (2) The social aspects of the novel include culture: belief, religion, and morals, social environment: crime, prostitution, lifestyle, profession and social behavior, and economics of production and income , (3) The results of this study are intrinsic and extrinsic elements. It is appropriate to be implemented as a literary material. Because it has met the criteria in the selection of teaching materials in terms of language, psychology and cultural background students. Then refer to Education Unit Level Curriculum (KTSP) junior high school grade VIII semester 2. Learning novel also in accordance with SK 13,14 and 15
