Abstract
Adolescent nutrition problems are continuation of lnutrition problem since childhood,including iron deficiency anemia. Anemia in adolescents can lead to tiredness, decreasing concentration of learning that cause less of learning achievement and productivity. Many factors can affect anemia, one of them is iron deficiency. Food that can increase iron absorption especially nonheme iron are vitamin C and certain animal protein sources, such as meat and fish. Another factor that affects anemia is knowledge. The lack of knowledge causes the available of nutritious food is not consumed optimally. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between knowledge of anemia, the consumption level of protein, iron and vitamin C and the incidence of anemia among high school students at SMAN 3 Ponorogo. This study was an observational with cross-sectional method. Total sample were 73 and were collected through simple-random sampling technique. Data Collection of Anemia using questionnaires, the consumption level data of protein, iron and vitamin C were obtained by 3 x 24 not consecutive food recall, the data of hemoglobin ncentration were collected using cyanmethemoglobin. Statistical analysis was Pearson Product Moment test for normal distribution data. The survey results are proportion of male 39.7% and female 60.3%, responden with lack of anemia knowledge is 93.2%,respondent with sufficient level of protein nsumption is 90.4%, respondents with less of iron consumption level is 74%, respondents with sufficient rate of vitamin onsumption 56.2% and the respondents who are not anemia (normal) is 67,1% and anemia it is 32.9%. There was no correlation between knowledge of anemia and the incidence of anemia p = 0.613. There was a correlation between consumption level of protein (p = 0.000), consumption level of iron (p = 0.000), consumption level of vitamin C and the incidence of anemia (p = 0.000).
