The results of this study are (1) the level of legibility of the textbooks of Indonesian Language and Classroom VIII SMP / MTs by Asep Yudha Wirajaya and Sudarmawarti, indicating that the three selected texts being samples are suitable for the students of class VIII, so it is stated that the level of legibility is high, 2) the level of readability in the daily newspaper Solopos, indicating that one sample text is suitable for class VIII because it has a high degree of legibility, whereas the other two news texts do not match because of low readability for grade VIII, (3) Internet site detik.com, shows that the two sample texts are suitable for class VIII students, so it can be stated that the level of legibility is high, whereas one other text is not suitable because it has a low level of readability. Matches and mismatched texts are based on analytical results done by the authors, that the appropriate text used for class VIII SMP / MTs is at the grade level of 7, 8, and 9, whereas the unmatched text is at grade 10 and 12 levels. Based on nine texts that have been analyzed, it can be concluded that the selected news text into a research sample has a high level of legibility. This means that the text of the news is easily understood by the readers, especially students of grade VIII SMP / MTs.
