Abstract

This research aim to (1) describe grammatical cohesion in reader’s letter tempo magazine (2) explained the relevance of grammatical cohesion in reader’s letter tempo magazine as the alternative of Indonesian’s teaching material at junior high school. This research is descriptive qualitative. The technique used in this research is book technique, read, and write. Analysis technique used in this research is agih method, padan and markah. The validity of data is triangulation. The result of this research first shows that grammatical cohesion are (a) first person saya, Ku, kami, kita , second person reference anda. Third person reference nya, mereka . (b) time demonstrative reference saat ini, 3 januari lalu, tahun lalu, masa depan, setiap pagi, paginya, pukul 13.29, place demonstrative reference di sini, ini, itu, bekasi barat, surabaya, bandung, kantor imigrasi, itc roxy (c) nominal substitution mereka, saya, pria,istana, kompleks, lingkungan, verbal substitution generasi muda, remaja, menyetir, berkendara, kekecewaan, keluhan, (d) extrication saya, kami, penulis (e) framing cause-effect sebab, karena, maka, opposition maka, purpose agar, addiction serta, dan, juga, choice atau, hope semoga, sequence jika, . Second, the result of this research can be formed as alternative teaching for Indonesian learning at junior high school grade IX second semester KD 12.3. indicator identifying language structure and elements (cohesion Gramatical), understand the steps in writing the letter of the reader in accotdance with the structure and language, produces reader letter according to the structure and its language characteristic
