Abstract
The purpose of research to describe the students' difficulties in solving real-line sequence problems and analyzing its causes. This research is descriptive qualitative. Subject research is the students of Mathematics Education Study Program of University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta academic year 2016/2017. Data collection methods used in this study are interviews and documentation. Data analysistechnique by reducing the data, the presentation of the, and withdrawal a conclusion. The results showed that the difficulties experienced by students in solving the problem of the sequence of real numbers: (1) Difficulty in transferring knowledge seen from students experience difficulties in writing concepts and applying concepts; (2) difficulty in counting operations seen from students experience difficulties in manipulating numbers, writing symbols,and counting operations of the multiplication of real numbers. Factors that cause the students to have difficulties that is not understanding the basic concepts of the real line of numbers, students are still confused in distinguishing concepts, students have not understand the use of the concept of the sequence of real numbers, mistakenly in writing the symbols on the line of real numbers, students are less thorough in solving the problem of number sequence real.
