Abstract

THE MEANING OF DENOTATION AND CONNOTATION ON THE READER LETTER RUBRICT OF HADILA MAGAZINE EDITION JANUARY UNTIL DECEMBER 2016 AND THE IMPLICATIONS TOWARD LEARNING INDONESIAN LANGUAGE IN SMA. Thesis Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. June, 2017. This study aimed to describe the use of connotation and denotation meaning on the Reader Letter Rubric of Hadila magazine. This research was under qualitative research. The data used in this research was the Reader Letter Rubric of Hadila magazine edition january until december 2016. The data collection technique used in this research was literature study and analyzed the content of the magazine. Then, in analyzing the data, this research employed method of agih and reference method. The result of this research showed that there were two major finding including connotation and denotation. Firstly, there were 79 data containing denotation meanings. Secondly, there were 20 data containing connotation meaning. They were 11 high connotations, 1 friendly connotation, 2 hard connotations and 6 school-built connotations.
