Abstract

Abstract This study aims to (1) describe the sosiohistorisauthor background of the novel Surga yg tak dirindukan by Asma Nadia . (2) describe the structure that builds novel Surga yang Tak Dirindukan by Asma Nadia. (3) describe the gender perspective contained in the novel Surga yang Tak Dirindukan by Asma Nadia. (4) Describe the implementation of the research results in novel Surga yg Tak Dirindukan by Asma Nadia . This research uses descriptive qualitative method. The data in this study are words and sentences. Data Source of this study is novel titled Surga yg Tak Dirindukan by Asma Nadia, June 2014, 300 pages. Techniques for collecting data are using literature techniques, see, and record. Data are analyzed using semiotic reading models consist of heuristic and hermeneutic reading. The results of this study are (1) Asma Nadia was born in Jakarta on March 26, 1972. The works were produced by the author include: novels, movies, stories, books, plays, and nonfiction. (2) elements that formthe novel such as novel theme, the facts of the story, characterizations, plot, setting, and literary devices. (3) a gender perspective in the novel Surga yang Tak Dirindukan consists of gender and marginalization, gender and subordination, gender and stereotypes, gender and violence, gender and workload. (4) the results of the research can be implemented in teaching literature of high school at the second semester oftwelveth grade using competency standards reading 3. Understanding, implementing, analyzing and evaluating factual knowledge, conceptual, procedural, and metacognitive based on curiosity about science, technology, art, 3.3 analyzing historical story text, news, advertising, editorial/opinion, and novel through both oral and written. The result of analyzing novel Surga yg Tak Dirindukan by Asma nadia shows that gender pespektif encourage students to behave and instill mutual respect fellow human beings and not to distinguish between positions with each other.
