Abstract
The problem of the study is the anxiety focused on the major character namely Tina Manson in Violet Winspear’s Bride’s Dilemma. This study is a qualitative study. The research uses two data sources, namely primary data source and secondary data source. The primary data source is the novel itself. The the secondary data source is the other sources related to the analysis such as the author biography, books about the psychology, particularly related to the psychoanalytic theory of Sigmund Freud. The method of data collection is library research. The technique of data analysis is descriptive analysis. Based on the analysis, this study shows the anxiety of the major character. The conflict of Tina’s personality is driven by her id and her superego. In other words, most of her psychic energy is controlled by her id. The factors that make Tina Manson feel anxious is the contradiction in the structural personality between id and superego. The battle of her id and superego influences her decision to do something. Her id rather than her superego dominates Tina’s personality in taking decision. Keep spirit and be patient is Tina’s effort to change her life from anxiety in her mind to change her problem into comfort feeling.
