Abstract
Kuripan Field in Grobogan Regency represents a public asset with significant potential for development as an integrated sports arena (Gelora). However, current conditions reveal infrastructure deficiencies, irregular layout, a lack of synergy between functions, and underutilized economic opportunities for the local community. The objective of this design is to formulate an idea for developing Kuripan Field into a Gelora integrated with a profit-center-oriented open public space. The methodological approach includes a literature review, direct on-site observation, data collection through interviews, document collection, and analysis of similar case studies. Analysis elements include site characteristics, activity patterns, space requirements, building mass configuration, structural systems and materials, and utility installations. The design strategy refers to the provisions of Minister of Youth and Sports Regulation No. 8 of 2018 concerning Type B Sports Halls (GOR), the principles of public space (Project for Public Space), and the profit center model.. The design output yields a holistic area with a 60% public zone and 40% commercial zone. The facilities provided include a sports hall supporting 6 types of sports (with a capacity of 2,000–3,000 spectators), an open green area covering 30% of the land area, a disabled-friendly pedestrian corridor, a children's play area, and an MSME cluster as a source of income through field rentals, parking fees, and holding regular events. Adaptation of the design to the tropical climate is realized through the planting of cooling vegetation, a rainwater collection system, environmentally friendly drainage, and the installation of solar panels. This concept is anticipated to be the foundation for a dynamic, inclusive, economically profitable, and sustainable public area in Grobogan Regency.
