Abstract

Ponorogo City Center (PCC) is one of the shopping centers in Ponorogo Regency with the potential to be developed into a more active and productive public space. However, the existing condition shows that the building’s function has not been optimized to accommodate creative community activities. Therefore, redevelopment through an adaptive reuse approach is needed to revitalize the area into a creative hub. This study aims to design the development of PCC into an inclusive creative hub that accommodates creative, social, and commercial activities in an integrated manner. The method used includes space requirement analysis, site analysis, zoning analysis, and the application of design concepts based on precedent studies such as Funan Mall Singapore and Publika Shopping Gallery Malaysia. The design results show that the development maintains the existing building as the main mass, while adding a new building at the rear area as a creative hub. Spatial planning is organized through structured zoning and supported by a modern architectural concept that is open, flexible, and inclusive. In addition, the integration of local cultural elements of Ponorogo, along with the application of appropriate technology and materials, strengthens the identity of the area. Thus, this design is expected to enhance the functionality of the area, create an inclusive public space, and support the growth of the creative economy in Ponorogo Regency.
