Abstract

Stunting is a chronic nutritional issue leading to growth and developmental failure in children, particularly during the first 1,000 Days of Life (HPK). Mojosongo Village in Surakarta records the highest concentration of stunting cases, reaching 300 toddlers. While community programs like "Mojosongo Zero Stunting" are operational, their effectiveness is hindered by the lack of functionally integrated facilities. This study aims to design an integrated Stunting Center in Mojosongo that consolidates medical services, nutritional education, and stimulation therapy into a single synergistic physical ecosystem. The design methodology applies the Behavioral Architecture approach through James J. Gibson’s Environmental Affordance theory, which views architecture as a provider of activity opportunities aligned with a child's developmental capacity. Design strategies include passive techniques such as cross-ventilation and natural lighting through a courtyard concept, alongside a three-story massing arrangement that zones functions based on privacy and interaction levels. The design results in a three-story facility implementing five affordance aspects: physical (independent accessibility), cognitive (intuitive design), sensory (tactile and visual stimulation), functional (nurturing support), and safety (safe perception through rounded corners and anti-slip materials).
