Abstract
The advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology has had a significant impact on various sectors, including the judicial system. One notable innovation is the emergence of the "AI Judge" concept, referring to the use of AI to assist or even replace human judges in resolving legal disputes. This study aims to analyze the legality of using AI Judges within the judicial system of Estonia and to examine how the judicial codes of ethics in Estonia and Indonesia regulate such technological use, based on the principles of justice and accountability. A normative juridical approach is employed, with a case study on the implementation of AI Judges in Estonia, a country recognized for having one of the most advanced digital infrastructures in Europe. The findings indicate that Estonia has developed a digital judicial system that allows the use of AI in handling minor cases, such as administrative disputes and low-value claims. This implementation has proven to improve efficiency and reduce the workload of human judges. The study highlights a difference in approach between Estonia and Indonesia in responding to technological integration within judicial processes. Estonia embraces digital innovation more openly, whereas Indonesia adopts a more cautious stance to uphold judicial integrity and human-centered justice. These findings are expected to contribute to the development of digital legal policies in Indonesia amid the global trend of technological transformation.
