Abstract

The rapid development of technology and the Korean Wave phenomenon in Indonesia have brought significant changes to public consumption patterns, particularly among the younger generation. As a country with the highest K-Pop-related Twitter activity in the world, K-Pop fans in Indonesia are frequently exposed to the influence of social media public figures and the pressures of their social groups. This study aims to determine the relationship between media influencer intensity and peer conformity toward consumptive behavior among K-Pop fans. This study employs a quantitative approach using a purposive sampling technique to ensure that respondents meet the criteria as active high school K-Pop fans, obtaining a sample of 159 respondents. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression to examine both the simultaneous and partial effects of the independent variables on the dependent variable. The simultaneous hypothesis testing results revealed an F-value of 275.492 with a significance level of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating that media influencer intensity and peer conformity simultaneously have a significant relationship with consumptive behavior. Partially, the direction of the relationship was determined by the value of the regression coefficient (Beta). The media influencer intensity variable has a significant positive relationship with consumptive behavior (r = 0.876; p = 0.000), demonstrating that higher media influencer intensity is associated with a higher level of consumptive behavior. Likewise, the peer conformity variable showed a significant positive relationship with consumptive behavior (r = 0.623; p = 0.004), meaning that a higher level of peer conformity corresponds to a higher tendency toward consumptive behavior among these K-Pop fans.
