Abstract

This study investigates the impact of student participation in volunteering programmes on the development of soft skills, job readiness, and social contribution, while examining the moderating role of social media. Using a quantitative approach with SEM-PLS analysis, data were collected from 90 university students who had previous volunteering experience through purposive sampling. The results reveal that volunteering participation has a positive and significant effect on students soft skills, job readiness, and social contribution. Social media also demonstrates a direct positive influence on these three outcomes. However, social media does not significantly moderate the relationship between volunteering participation and the development of soft skills, job readiness, or social contribution. The study contributes to the literature on experiential learning and civic engagement and provides practical insights for higher education institutions in developing volunteering programmes supported by digital platforms.
