Abstract
Population administration plays a crucial role in ensuring legal certainty and protecting citizens' civil rights through the issuance of population documents by the Population and Civil Registration Service (Dispendukcapil). In practice, errors in the issuance of population documents frequently occur due to typographical errors in identity data and negligence in the file verification process. These errors can harm the public and hinder the fulfillment of administrative rights. This study aims to analyze the legal responsibility of Dispendukcapil for errors in the issuance of population documents and the resolution mechanisms available to affected individuals. This study employed an empirical juridical approach, incorporating both statutory and empirical approaches. The results indicate that the Civil Registration Office (Dispendukcapil)'s legal responsibility is primarily administrative, manifested through the obligation to correct and revise population documents free of charge and the implementation of internal oversight. The public can pursue resolution mechanisms including submitting requests for corrections to population documents and registering corrections to civil registration certificates.
