Abstract
Learning Islamic Religious Education, particularly Fiqh, at the vocational high school level involves students with diverse abilities, interests, motivations, and learning styles. This diversity requires teachers to implement instructional approaches that can accommodate students’ individual learning needs so that the learning process becomes more effective, inclusive, and meaningful. One relevant approach to address this challenge is differentiated instruction. This study aims to describe the implementation of a differentiated learning approach in the Islamic Religious Education (Fiqh) subject at SMK Assalaam Sukoharjo and to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors in its implementation. This research employed a descriptive qualitative method with a field research design. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The data were analyzed using the interactive analysis model proposed by Miles and Huberman, which consists of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the implementation of differentiated learning in the Fiqh subject at SMK Assalaam Sukoharjo has been conducted fairly well. The teacher applied differentiation in terms of content, process, and product by adjusting instruction to students’ needs, interests, abilities, and learning styles. The learning process was supported by interactive methods such as discussions, simulations, and question-and-answer activities. Supporting factors included school leadership support, adequate learning facilities, and students’ learning motivation. Meanwhile, inhibiting factors consisted of limited instructional time, significant differences in students’ abilities, and the density of boarding school activities. Overall, differentiated learning had a positive impact on students’ motivation, active participation, and understanding of Fiqh learning materials.
