Abstract
The team method is a method of providing nursing care in which a professional nurse acts as the leader of a group of nursing staff in providing nursing care to a group of clients through cooperation and collaboration. The team method applied at PKU Muhammadiyah Sampangan Hospital needs to be evaluated because not all hospitals can optimally implement the team method. There are still many limitations, such as a lack of supervision from team leaders, ineffective communication, and a lack of periodic evaluation in the application of this method. This study aims to evaluate the application of the team method in providing nursing care at PKU Muhammadiyah Sampangan Hospital. This study uses a quantitative design with a descriptive analytical approach and a cross-sectional design. This study was conducted at PKU Muhammadiyah Sampangan Hospital from June to July 2025 using purposive sampling with the criteria of nurses who served as team leaders and associate nurses in the Maryam ward of PKU Muhammadiyah Sampangan Hospital. The research instruments consisted of observation sheets for team leader duties and observation sheets for associate nurse duties, which were conducted using direct observation methods. The results of the observations conducted by the researcher on 4 team leaders and 5 associate nurses in the Maryam Ward of PKU Muhammadiyah Sampangan Hospital showed that in 15 aspects of the team leader's duties, most of the team leader's duties were in the “rarely” category (45%), and all of the team leader's task scores were in the “poor” category. Meanwhile, the observation results on 10 aspects of the Associate Nurse's duties showed that the highest result was in the “often” category, which was 46%, and all the Associate Nurse's task scores were in the “good” category. Based on the results of the research that has been conducted, it can be concluded that the application of the team method is not yet running well, and there are still several things that need to be improved so that nursing care can run optimally.
