Abstract

Puro Mangkunegaran is one of the kingdoms of the Mataram Islamic Palace which still inherits Javanese cultural customs, one of which is dance culture. With many dance arts that have not been registered for their intellectual property rights, this makes the protection of dance arts quite risky to be stolen or unclear claims will be very possible, especially among classical culture in Surakarta, precisely in the Kasunanan Surakarta Palace and in Puro Mangkunegaran Surakarta. This study aims to determine the implementation of the protection of economic rights of classical dance in Surakarta, specifically Mangkunegaran Style in Puro Mangkunegaran based on Law Number 28 of 2014 concerning Copyright. In this study, an empirical juridical approach method was used. While primary data comes from interviews and secondary data comes from primary and secondary legal sources. As well as the method of data collection is using interview and literature studies of artists in Surakarta City and in Puro Mangkunegaran. Data analysis is a qualitative approach. The results of the research are that Puro Mangkunegaran itself is able to manage the existence of classical dance Mangkunegaran Style and manage the economic value based on the existence of classical dance itself even without registering copyright. This is based on the enthusiasm of the local community and even abroad who are interested in preserving classical dance Surakarta, especially classical dance Mangkunegaran Style.
