Abstract
Global climate change, especially the increase in land surface temperature, has become a serious challenge for the agricultural sector, including in Pekalongan City, Central Java. This study aims to analyze the comparison of changes in land surface temperature in Pekalongan City in 2013 and 2023, and analyze the effect of changes in land surface temperature on rice productivity in Pekalongan City. This research uses quantitative methods with spatial and temporal approaches to analyze temperature data and rice productivity statistically and mathematically. The results show a significant increase in surface temperature, with the high temperature area expanding from 20% in 2013 to 25% in 2023, while the low temperature area shrinks from 30% to 20%. In addition, rice productivity decreased from 7.23 tons/ha in 2013 to 6.96 tons/ha in 2023, with an average decrease of 0.027 tons/ha per year. The increase in surface temperature correlates with a decrease in rice productivity, which is also influenced by the conversion of paddy fields into settlements. Despite the stability of rice productivity at the level of 5.9 tons/ha in 2023, serious concerns arise regarding the sustainability of the agricultural system if surface temperatures exceed the critical threshold of 38°C. This study produces a spatial-temporal model that can predict the impact of temperature change on agricultural productivity, and provides recommendations for adaptation strategies to improve food security and sustainability of the agricultural sector in Pekalongan City.
