Abstract

Advances in science and technology have a significant impact on education. This study aims to design and create an educational subtraction game for children aged 4-6 years at Kemala Bhayangkari 93 Grogol Kindergarten. Traditional teaching methods often fail to engage young students who are active, easily bored, and playful, making subjects such as mathematics difficult to teach. Interesting and supportive media are needed to optimize the learning process. Educational games designed to teach certain concepts provide a more engaging and effective learning experience. This study utilizes Construct 2, a game engine for creating two-dimensional HTML5-based games, to develop the educational game. The game aims to make subtraction learning fun and interactive, helping children develop logical thinking and problem-solving skills. The development process follows the SDLC (System Development Life Cycle) method with the Waterfall model. Functionality and usability will be tested using black box testing and the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) method. Based on the results of the study, an effective subtraction educational game was obtained to attract children's interest in learning and improve understanding in terms of subtraction. The results of the application test showed an average value of 92% which is included in the Very Good category.
