Abstract
This study aims to determine the effect of groove angle variations on the mechanical strength of 6 mm thick aluminum material when welding with the GTAW welding method, with groove angle variations of 90 and 120 degrees. As well as the polarity of AC and DCEN currents which are then subjected to mechanical testing (tensile testing and hardness testing) to find the strength value of the joint. Welding is carried out using the GTAW welding method with variations in current and also variations in the groove angle of the welded joint. The testing method that will be carried out is by tensile testing and hardness testing on the joint after the welding process is carried out, from the tests that have been carried out, data is obtained in the form of tensile strength values and hardness values on the welded joint. From the tests that have been carried out, the results are obtained in the form of tensile strength values and hardness values on the welded joint. From the welding results, defects were also found in the welded joint, from the results obtained it can be concluded that AC current has a higher tensile strength than DCEN current, and the results of the 120 ° 120 A variation have the highest hardness value.
