Abstract

Kpop fans cannot be separated from their gadgets and idols, often in their daily activities new problems arise which cause sleep disturbances due to various situations and conditions that require teenagers to postpone their bedtime. The main aim of this study was to examine the relationship between the level of gadget use, self-control, and students' sleep quality. Using a simple random sampling procedure, this research surveyed 100 Kpop fans in the Surakarta area used a correlational quantitative methodology. Measurements of intensity of gadget use, self-control and sleep quality were used in this study. Data examination was carried out using Goodman and Kruskal gamma and Spearman test. There was no relationship between intensity of gadget use, self-control and sleep quality in the primary hypothesis test. Proving the null hypothesis, there is no correlation between the amount of time spent using gadgets and the quality of a person's sleep. Self-control is also not significantly related to a person's sleep quality. There is a partial relationship of 8.6% between the intensity of gadget use and sleep quality, and a 12.9% relationship between self-control and sleep quality. The classification findings show that the self-control variables, intensity of gadget use are all in the high category and sleep quality is in the low category. Keywords: intensity of gadget use, self-control, sleep quality.
