Abstract

In the case that I encountered there was a case of damage to the torque converter component which was caused by a lack of maintenance on the power train system, in this case the torque converter unit of the CDM833PRO wheel loader experienced a reduction in power which caused the unit to experience low power for forward and reverse movement. After inspection visually and in disassembly, the bearings and turbine experienced wobbling which indicated wear on these components. The results of the analysis of damage to the torque converter where the bearings were damaged so that the turbine experienced a change in angle and friction. The change in angle can be seen in the calculation above at 1.31° which resulted in the turbine experiencing unbalanced rotation resulting in friction. When there is a change in angle and friction, it will affect the power produced by the turbine. The power produced by the turbine under normal conditions is 229.99 kW, but in calculations that have been carried out taking into account the angle of inclination and friction, the resulting decrease is 213.72 kW, which is indicates a decrease in power / low power. So it can be concluded that the tilt angle and friction influence the reduction in power produced by the torque converter turbine.
