Abstract
Currently, the Indonesian government encourages its citizens to pursue 12 years of compulsory education, at least completing education at the Senior High School (SMA) level, as stipulated in Government Regulation Number 47 of 2008, Article 7, Paragraphs (4) and (5), as well as the Yogyakarta Special Region Regional Regulation No. 2 of 2018. The availability of educational facilities needs to be considered alongside the high population growth, in accordance with the regulations of SNI 03-1733-2004 regarding Urban Housing Environment Planning Procedures. The presence of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) can facilitate analysis related to the spatial patterns and accessibility of educational facilities in Yogyakarta City. This research aims to analyze the spatial patterns, availability, and accessibility of Senior High School-equivalent educational facilities in relation to the population density in Yogyakarta City in 2022. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative, utilizing primary data in the form of school location coordinates plotting, and secondary data including spatial data and population data. Based on the Average Nearest Neighbor calculation method, the spatial pattern of SMA/MA and SMK in Yogyakarta City is random (z-score = 0.28). Based on the results of kernel density analysis, SMA/MA and SMK are predominantly spread in the central and northern areas of Yogyakarta City. The availability of SMA/MA and SMK in Yogyakarta City still requires 5 additional units based on the calculation of the ideal standard for service facilities, while the accessibility of SMA/MA and SMK to population density within a 3000-meter radius has been fully achieved.
