Abstract
The Qurʻan is a miracle of the prophet Muhammad that was revealed as a guide for all living things on earth. Of course the contents contain important things. And one of the verses in the Qurʻan discusses insects. On earth, there are many types of insects. Almost 75% of all animal species are insects whose numbers are estimated at six to ten million species, and there are only eight types of insects listed in eleven verses in the Qurʻan . They are two verses about bees, two verses about ants, two verses about grasshoppers, one verse about fleas, one verse about larvae, one verse about termites, one verse about mosquitoes, and one verse about flies. This research is a library research in which using documents as the subject of research, such as books, journals, papers, historical records or so on. This research seeks to reveal the symbolic message contained in the story of insects in the Qurʻan by using the content analysis method, and involves classifying the data obtained according to the problem at hand, analyzing its substance, then interpreting it before drawing conclusions. The approach of this research is an interpretative approach. Interpretation can be interpreted as interpretation itself, so interpretation is describing everything that is behind the existing data. Through this research, it was found that Buya Hamka gave a fairly detailed interpretation of insect stories in the context of the Qurʻan . And from the author's analysis of Al-Azhar's interpretation, there are four verses in the Qurʻan that describe insects in the form of symbolic messages, namely ants, bees, flies, and mosquitoes.
