Abstract

Cultural centers are known by the public as public facilities established by the government with the aim of introducing, developing and preserving regional culture. Each region has a unique culture. One area that has a strong culture is Sukoharjo. However, there has been no effort to develop and continue the culture found in Sukoharjo. For this reason, the Sukoharjo Cultural Center was designed as a forum for information, recreation and cultural education. This design was carried out to find out how to create a design for the Sukoharjo cultural center as a place for information, recreation and cultural education in order to introduce Sukoharjo culture which can attract the interest of local and foreign tourists. The aim of designing the Sukoharjo cultural center for information, recreation and cultural education is to maintain regional cultural heritage, accommodate artists and cultural figures, and increase the preservation of regional arts and culture. The method used is the qualitative inductive method. Data collection was carried out by observation, after which it was linked to literature studies and also precedent studies. The design concept for the Sukoharjo cultural center is to use traditional Javanese architecture, with the building form mostly being Joglo. It is hoped that the Sukoharjo Cultural Center will be a way to increase love for Indonesian culture. Keywords : cultural center; sukoharjo; traditional javanese architecture
