Abstract
This research examines the reception or acceptance of the Al-Qur'an in deaf culture at the Jamhariyah Yogyakarta Deaf-Deaf Islamic Boarding School with the aim of finding out how deaf children at the Jamhariyah Yogyakarta Deaf-Deaf Islamic Boarding School receive and understand the Al-Qur'an to be studied, absorbed and applied. in everyday life by deaf children at the Jamhariyah Yogyakarta Deaf-Impaired Pondok and to describe the acceptance of the Al-Qur'an in life and making the Al-Qur'an the main foundation in their daily lives. Based on qualitative research, this research uses a type of research based on case studies by conducting direct visits to the scene of the incident and getting involved to complete the data needed by researchers. The results of this research are that researchers can get concrete notes related to the reception of the Al-Qur'an in deaf culture in their cultural life. Then an analysis of their methods was carried out based on existing data. This research shows that the acceptance of the Al-Qur'an in deaf culture at the Jamhariyah Yogyakarta Deaf-Deaf Boarding School is with the presence of sign language, especially hijaiyah letters using the ASL (Arabic Sign Languange) method which is a sign language method using one hand. With this method, deaf children can receive, understand and study the Al-Qur'an even though they have hearing limitness and this research proves that hearing limitations do not prevent deaf children in the boarding school from receiving the Al-Qur'an.
