Abstract

The rapid development of creative industries in Indonesia demands efforts to create an adequate education and innovation environment. Surakarta City, as one of the creative industry centres in Java Island, has great potential to become a more developed creative city. However, the biggest challenge faced is the lack of access to adequate education and training for creative talents. In this context, the objective of the design is to design a Surakarta Creative Education and Innovation Center that aims to provide quality learning in the field of creative industries, create an educational environment that stimulates creativity and innovation, build a network of collaboration between the education centre, industry, community, and surrounding society, and facilitate collaboration between the industry community, freelance, and the younger generation. The problems formulated in this research include the appropriate location for designing the Creative Education and Innovation Centre, the facilities required, and the design concept that is able to encourage creativity, collaboration, innovation, and experimentation for learning. Through the approach of literature study, field study, comparative study, and data analysis, it is expected that an adequate architectural design can be developed in accordance with the goals and objectives that have been set. Thus, this design has a high relevance in the context of creative industry development in Surakarta City and contributes to fulfilling the need for access to education and training for creative talents in Indonesia.
