Abstract

Rest area is an indispensable place for motorists as a temporary resting place. This place can be found along the toll road with different distance intervals and the availability of different facilities according to the type chosen. When driving, especially on toll roads, drivers usually need a break after traveling for several hours. This is because the straight and flat road conditions make drivers feel sleepy and bored. If this condition is forced to continue driving, it will result in an accident. Therefore, the need for rest areas also needs to be considered to meet the needs of motorists. Based on excerpts from several news sources, it is said that the Brebes - Semarang toll road has had cases of overloaded rest area visitors for the past 2 years. The incident occurred at KM 338 A Pekalongan rest area. Thus, officers had to impose an open and close rest area system for several times. Drivers who do not get the opportunity to stop at the rest area will be diverted to the next rest area. On the other hand, the drivers may be quite tired and need time to take a short break after a long journey. From these problems by looking at the potential owned by Pekalongan and the location position in the middle between Brebes-Semarang, it can be used as a solution to design a type C rest area with a closer distance to the rest area. The Pekalongan Rest Area design process uses physical and non-physical data collection and data processing or data analysis. After that, preparing the concept with an eco-culture approach to the interior and exterior appearance of the Pekalongan Type C Rest Area.
