Abstract

The role of teachers in developing critical reasoning skills in students has a big role in producing a critical generation in the nation and state. This research aims to 1) Analyze the perceptions of class X and on the role of geography teachers in improving the critical reasoning abilities of Class X and XI students at SMA Batik 1 Surakarta in the Geography Subject. The population in this study were students in class X and The sampling technique uses a stratified random sampling method. The data collection techniques used are tests, questionnaires, observations, interviews. Data processing techniques are carried out in several stages, namely data coding, tabulating, and presenting research data. The data analysis techniques used are descriptive statistics and correlation tests. The results of the research show that 1) Class X students' perceptions of the role of geography teachers are in the quite good category with an average of 66.6, while class 2) The level of critical reasoning ability of class X students is included in the medium category with an average of 9.24, while the level of critical reasoning ability of class 3) Class X students' perceptions of the role of geography teachers have a significant influence with a value of 0.01 and for class This cannot be separated from the role of teachers from the start in shaping students' character when they enter high school.
