Abstract
Aluminum has been widely used in recent years to meet increasingly complex needs. Aluminum is a non-ferrous metal that has many advantages and can be applied in almost all fields, so the aluminum industry has products that are widely used in society. This is also supported because aluminum alloys are resistant to corrosion and have high ductility. This research aims to determine the treatment of Aluminum 6063 using carbon decorated with chrome particles. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) testing was carried out using ASTM E98. In testing stages 1 and 2, there was an increase in the value of carbon content and a decrease in the value of aluminum content in all test areas, while the value of chrome particle content tended to be constant or stable. Then the highest carbon content value was found in the stage 2 specimen in the side area after etching with a weight of 71.867%, while the lowest carbon content value was found in the stage 1 specimen in the middle area after etching with a weight of 1.971%, then for the chrome particle value the highest result was obtained in the stage 1 testing on the side area before etching with a weight of 0.198%. Meanwhile, for the chrome particle value, the lowest result was obtained in the phase 1 testing section on the side area after etching with a weight of 0.045%.
