Abstract

PT. Sumi Asih is a manufacturing company engaged in the oleochemical industry. The raw materials used consist of RBD Stearin and RBD Palm Oil. The problem that occurs is that there is no safety stock of raw materials so that it is out of stock. The aim of this research is to analyze the use of the EOQ and POQ methods in the effectiveness of raw material inventory management and compare the EOQ and POQ methods with existing methods that have been implemented. Based on the results of RBD Stearin calculations using the EOQ method, the order quantity was 3,641,013 kg with an order frequency of 10 times a year and a total inventory cost of Rp. 80,851,698. Meanwhile, for RBD Stearin using the POQ method, the order quantity is 1,395,637 kg with an order frequency of 26 times a year and a total inventory cost of Rp. 71,481,834. For RBD Stearin using the EOQ method, the order quantity was 1,546,225 kg with an order frequency of 10 times a year and a total inventory cost of Rp. 78,804,488. Meanwhile, for RBD Palm Oil using the POQ method, the order quantity is 271,824 with an order frequency of 59 times a year and a total inventory cost of Rp. 65,889,255. So the method that can be proposed is the POQ method because POQ storage costs are lower than EOQ storage costs.
