Abstract

Education is conscious work that has been planned which is expected to create learning situations and learning processes for students that can grow personal abilities to obtain religious spiritual strength, personality, self-mastery, noble morals, intelligence and skills needed by the person and their environment. The Islamic religious education teacher tried to familiarize him with congregational prayers. The aim of this research is to describe and determine the efforts of Islamic religious education teachers in handling increasing student discipline in carrying out congregational prayers and to determine the obstacles faced in improving student discipline in congregational prayers at SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Andong. This research is categorized as qualitative research with the research source being field research, while the approach used in this research is phenomenology. Data collection methods use observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis uses data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Data validity uses source triangulation and technical triangulation. The results of the research can be concluded that the efforts of Islamic religious education teachers have been good and this is proven from the results of observations and interviews in the field that the efforts of Islamic religious education teachers in improving the discipline of congregational prayer are through example habituation, supervision, orders, advice, providing motivation and encouragement, rewards and punishments for students who do not obey the rules. The obstacles faced are lack of awareness of the importance of congregational prayers, lack of motivation in students so they have the desire to skip classes or be lazy about praying, an environment that is less supportive in terms of infrastructure, peers who have a less favorable influence, and a poor family environment lacking in knowledge about religion.
