Abstract
Background: Heart failure, retinopathy, asteosclerosis, left ventricular hyperphytotrophy, and stroke are among the consequences that persons with uncontrolled hypertension may have Research Objectives: The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of watermelon juice on blood pressure in hypertensive patients with comorbidities. Methods: This kind of study uses a quasi-experimental pre- and post-test design with a control group and is quantitative in nature, during five days in a row, 200 grams of watermelon juice, 100 milliliters of water, a stethoscope, a blood pressure observation sheet, and a sphygmomanometer were used to measure blood pressure during the data collecting process. The Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test and the Man Whitney Test were utilised in this investigation. Result: The result of this study showed that after 5 days of watermelon juice to the intervention group's, there was a significant decrease in the average systolic and diastolic blood pressure values of (20,7 + 8,0) and (10,7 + 9,6) with a p-value (0.001) and (0.003). The control group an insignificant decrease in systolic pressure (4 + 9,1) with a p-value of (0,109) and diastolic pressure (1,3 + 5,1) with a p-value of (0,317). There is an effect of watermelon juice on blood pressure in hypertensive patients with comorbiditie, with a p-value (Asymp.Sig. 2-tailed) of 0,006<0,05 and 0,015 < 0,05 in systolic and diastolic pressure. Conclusion: Watermelon juice is able to lower blood pressure in hypertensive patients with comorbidities.
