Abstract
Sugary drinks and physical activity are factors that cause nutritional problems in adolescents. The behavior of consuming sugary drinks which contain high calories for the body will be stored as fat and if it is not balanced with physical activity, it will result in an imbalance between the amount of energy received and what is needed. To analyze the relationship between consumption of sweetened drinks and physical activity with nutritional status in class XII teenagers at SMA N 2 Sukoharjo. This research is observational with a cross sectional design. A sample of 77 was taken using a random sampling technique and had been adjusted to the inclusion criteria such as not being on a diet, not being an athlete, and not having a history of serious illness. Data on sweet drink consumption was obtained from filling out the food frequency questionnaire (FFQ) form for the last 1 month. Physical activity data was obtained from a 7x24 hour recall form. Nutritional status data was obtained through measuring body weight and height, then calculated using BMI/U and categorized according to z-score. Relationship analysis uses the Spearman Rank test. Respondents in the category of rarely consuming sweet drinks were 50.6% and 49.4% in the frequent category. The type of drink that is in great demand is iced tea. Respondents in the light physical activity category were 80.5%, moderate 16.9%, and heavy 2.6%. Respondents with poor nutritional status were 11.7%, normal 76.6%, over 6.5%, obese 5.2%. There is no relationship between consumption of sweetened drinks and nutritional status (p=0.142). There is a relationship between physical activity and nutritional status (p= 0.031). Providing education regarding the impact of malnutrition and overnutrition on the lives of teenagers.
